SIP is a not-for-profit association serving Sarasota and Manatee Counties.
Our members are employed in the insurance/risk management industry
or for businesses that provide insurance-related products &/or services.
We serve our members by providing professional education
and an environment in which to build business alliances.
We also support the community, most notably
through our annual distribution of $4000 in scholarship funds
to current and former Sarasota/Manatee county high school seniors.
History
Originally called Sarasota Insurance Women (SIW), our association was founded in 1980 by a small group of local women seeking educational and leadership opportunities for themselves and other women in similar positions. Men were invited to join in the early 1990s, and we changed our name in 2007 to SunCoast Insurance Professionals. Membership was later opened to men and women in insurance-related industries, such as fire & water damage restoration, property inspections, and auto glass replacement.
Over the years, our association has grown to nearly 40 members, who are constantly striving to attain new goals and keep up with the ever-changing insurance market.
International Affiliation
Through the International Association of Insurance Professionals, our members have the opportunity to make business contacts with other members throughout the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico. In addition, NAIW educational offerings include online, classroom, and self-study courses developed to improve work skills such as communication, time management, and sales, as well as industry-related programs on risk management, underwriting, cyber crime, and policy coverage exclusions & limitations.
